I'm not offended but I never intended this motorcycle forum to be a place to post this type of thing but since I've vowed never to sensor anyone and I believe in free speech I'll leave it here. (for now)

I would like to remind everyone though that this is a Goldwing motorcycle forum and I expect posts to reflect that theme!

I agree, religion and politics are too much of a touchy subject that most people disagree on and can easily lead to arguments

They don't offend me but i chose to not talk about either ones, even in person

I see the problem here, usually a " general" section is for everything the site isn't about. Maybe we should say motorcycle posts only, or simply get rid of it. I've often been tempted to start a " what are you listening to now" thread.

Dan, you have done a great job with this forum! I agree with Randy, maybe an "Off Topic" section is OK? I know that we have had other topics posted that are not always motorcycle related (I know I have had a few)

Many times we have acted more like family than just a bunch of Goldwing riders helping each other out many times over! As for Bob's post, I understand his intent; obviously, I am not offended (just read my sig). But it is your forum and I know the intent was to have a Classic Goldwing gathering place.

I hold everyone here dear to me, I would hate for anything to ever come between us.

We have come a long way in just over a year to rebuild the forums, all thanks to everyone's hard work, not just mine.
It is from the members input I do what I do to build it.

It does look like it's time to do some restructuring.
One is to rename the "General Forum" to "Off Topic", seems to make sense.
This way since most posts in General are off topic there is no starting from scratch.

There may be a need for another General forum totally separate from the Off Topic forum that is more MC and auto related, not sure.

AApple, Omega Man and I are working on a "Quick Reference" forum which will list maintenance data in one place without having to pull out the manual or search through the Gallery manuals, I'm excited about getting that completed! Great idea ~O~

As always I'm open to suggestions and I value everyone's input.

i dont think anything is wrong at all or a big deal ....theres nothing to this at all ....general forum and the past year is fine ...we all know that good manners is important but this has nothing to do with that .....stick and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me ....one of the first things i ever learned ....i never hold back mostly cause i care about this forum and everybody on it ... :laptop: :mrgreen:

I figured out awhile back that most people who want to share their religion with you, don't want you to share yours with them.

Passion is a good thing. But when someone becomes passionately defensive, then it's no longer a rational conversation.

Look at me for instance. I mostly have this problem when shareing my personal opinion about law enforcement. And... I passionately don't want you to share yours with me. :whistling:

I value fellowship over my "right*" to express every belief I have on this forum. Religion and politics are guaranteed to cause friction if we all decide to start expressing our beliefs on this forum. They are just too tightly held to be able to discuss them on a forum where we do not have the natural moderation of being in each others presence.

*-Dan is not the government, and as such, none of us should have expectation that we have a right to express any opinion or belief on this board. Dan is the owner of this board and he has the right to restrict it in anyway he sees fit. Is it censorship? Sure. But, he has the right to do it. It works better though, when we all work to respect the established parameters and not stray outside them. That way there never has to be censorship or locked threads. BTW-the best forums I am on have an active moderating presence. As long as folks do not step outside the rules, then it all works well.

gee andy for all the opposite reasons is why i like this forum ....fellowship and tongue tied have nothing to do with each other ..freedom of speech is absolute and sensorship by gov or moderators dosnt do anything but promote upper crust people who think they know better....im not one to promote slavery as thediffintion of freedom sorry....to be a real person one has to have thick skin ....sensorship has no place in a free people forum or anything ....manners are fine senorship no place anywhere in freedom respectfuly andy ...my right and freedom of opinion....theres no problem here at all dont need to be controlled or tongue tied :mrgreen:
