I got the carbs clean, the heads back on, and the motor purring quietly awaiting fine tuning. Only then did I discover I couldn't figure out where to run the tach cable so it would fit. I can't find a routing in the factory manual or the Clymer book. Now I'm to the point of questioning if I grabbed the tach cable from another bike 'cause one seems too short and the other seems too long :read: :help:

I have run my tach cable from the fuel pump up above the carb tops but below the frame and fed through just past the radiator cap. Then above the lower frame of the triple tree and to the tach.

Yes it looks like that one is way too high clear back by the fuel tank. Mine is almost a straight line from tach to fuel pump drive. just some gentle curves along the way.

Edzachary how mine is, too. In fact, mine runs just to the outside of the rad cap, and it's so close, it makes it hard to get the cap off. I have to finagle the cable out of the way a little.

I tried to put tach cable from a cb750 on a gl1100. We now know this is too short...doh!. I'm still playing with the routing cause the right one seems too long, but i'll get soon I'm sure. Thanks for all the support.
