Overdrive

Let me ask a gl1200 question. Overdrive light comes on in 5th gear correct? the reason I ask is because I have taken the Goldwing on a few joyrides today and not once did the overdrive light never came on but I took a last ride tonight and on the way home it cam on I thought maybe I was not shifting enough and took it another ride and it did not come back on. So now the million dollar question is this am I getting overdrive even if the light does not come on.

If your all the way up into 5th gear, your in overdrive.
It has nothing to do with the light coming on. That is only an indicator light that you are in 5th.

I finally got my overdrive light working when replacing the tach.
Last it worked was years ago when I first got the bike. Kinda neat to see it.
