I talked with Paul today.
He needs to design a 1200 coil mount but does not have access to a 1200 so he's looking for some help with that locally.

I told him I'd start the thread then he can followup with more specifics....... Take it away Paul.

Thank you Dan,

We have always used the Quad Tower coil for Goldwing kits. It has two coils inside, has a nice connector built in, and fits the GL1000 quite nicely in the stock location.

The GL1100 is a bit of a tight fit, and I have never really liked our existing coil mount. Now that we offer an ignition for the GL1200 I would love to start over with a simpler idea. We have sold about 6-8 kits for the GL1100/1200 and don't have good feed back on the coil mounts yet. Seems everyone does it a different way, but simple is better so the kit price won't go up.

If we provided two smaller coils, they might work in places the QT coil won't. We use these smaller coils on most of our ignition kits and they are awesome performers (120,000 volt rating).

Since I don't have a GL1200 and I'm pig headed (strong willed?) that our kits should be easy to install, I am looking for someone who might be installing our ignition and would like to help us.

There will be no extra cost for these two coils and I will provide direct communication with this person to assist with the design/installation. Posting results here on CGW and our C5 installation guide is the ultimate goal. You will be given recognition for assisting us.

Any interest or ideas?

I'm willing to try anything you want but. I've been working 28-30 days a month and haven't had time to do much of anything to the bike. The only thing I've managed to do to mine so far this year is ride and swap windshields It only took about 15 minutes for the shield. The standard frame should be the same as all the 1200's though. Maybe we can make time to meet somewhere and do it together?

i am deep into the quad coil mounting on jyd and not home for a couple weeks yet ....im big on heat sheild removal which brings some room to the table ....but the the new coils look interesting ....one thing is for sure ...what ever trouble the c5 is to mount its worth it ....im going on many thousands of miles test ride on c5 and it really makes a wing run steady and smooth and flawless .......ill be home in a few weeks

I am still waiting for my local friend to dig out a "junkyard" GL1200 so I can make some proper mounts. In the mean time we've received blessings to move forward with more aggressive coil testing of a super small "coil on plug" style that I've played with a bit.

I recently sold both of my GL1000's so I can try my hand at newer Wing models when the right deal presents itself.

For anyone tinkering with a "stock" GL1200 I'm still open to working on this if someone wants to be different!

If I didn't have a broken rear case on the 1100, I would be all over this...

I have had both bike torn apart at the same time before and I was not a happy person. I won't do that to myself again.

Brian I'm sorry to hear that. If you need parts let me know. Although I don't have any 1100 items, my friend Eric always has a dozen or more Wings in his warehouse.
I've been really busy with car/truck/tractor projects this summer and not sure when I will have time to play with a better coil mount, but it is on the "honey do" list.
