I ran a set I closed off the crossover and pulled the end baffles.
I didn't notice any difference in performance although I didn't run them for long, too loud for my taste.
Since I didn't run long I didn't have a chance to look at the plugs, they will tell the true story if its running lean or rich.

The purpose of the crossover is to equalize back pressure. Removing it will seldom if ever cause a noticeable difference in performance. Over a long period of time it may have an effect on one or more valves though. Not all that likely though it seems. No worries at all with a 4-1 exhaust!

I just did it with some, I think they were Roadkings. No change in performance noted. My mileage might be better, but that is likely from all the leaks I had before. I like the tone now.

I will be cutting the tips off of my stock exhaust. Basically bob them right where they choke back down after the expansion chambers. THis should give a little more tone w/out being loud. Plus it will help lighten the look of the bike.

I had a Virago 1100,pulled the baffles. It ran like *&^*&^ since I cut the baffles out had to do something to give it a little back pressure.Had a set of air shocks off a 81 wing.Used the big flat washer out of it to weld over the end.Worked perfect.Had a good sound as far as loud as *&^* goes.Just goes to show wings are awesome. And I dont *&^* with pipes anymore.

I'm running a set of MAC headers with turn down mufflers that were included with the head pipes, na dI hate them. Right now I'm trying to find a set of 19" mufflers with a 2" inlet. Good luck with that. Gonna put the stock head pipes on and use the Harley take offs. The sound and performance will be great. No jetting required.
The problem is the MAC muflers are at least 12" too long for the type of bike I built.
