Ok here is my daily rant. I have been working on my 1981 GL1100 trike project. I have been going through it making sure everything is up to par on it. I ordered 2 air filters (HIFLOFILTRO brand)and when they showed they look like nice filters. Tried to install one only to find out that the dish in the top where the bolt goes through is not as deep as a stock filter and it will not allow the air box top to close all the way. .I took a socket and made a dent and it will work but really don't these people check their parts, also today I bought some aftermarket fuel filters . Price was right they show up and look fine but when I tried to use the stock bracket it doesn't fit. The top rings are not wide enough. Once again REALLY don't they check what they are buying? And that doesn't say much about the people making them either. For years I taught upholstery in prison and the #1 thing I always stressed was quality and pride in your work. I guess I was wasting my time cause I guess that really doesn't matter anymore. OK I'm done now.

I had that too, I just left it ..figured it was like flipping the air cleaner lid on a car, just draws from the sided...I think the air cleaner itself is still sealed, just a gap.

Most people complain about the price of OEM parts, but sometimes you get what you pay for. Example, several years ago I would buy rebuilt starters for our customers, had too many failures and it didn't matter who I bought them from. So I went to only selling new starters, yes more money, but no rework or permature failures. Too many of the aftermarket parts are made in china or mexico and are basic junk.
