Well, I have a decision to make. Because of my vision issues, I'm just not comfortable riding. If I lived in a more rural area, it would be different, but Pasadena and LA are not in my comfort zone. The bike sits, still with less than 10 miles on the restoration, and all it needs is a front tire and the forks rebuilt. There is a small oil leak at the left valve cover...I have new gaskets, just need to install 'em.

I finally got it registered, but haven't been on it since even before that. I start it and buzz around the block once in a while, but I hate to see it sit! It needs to be used for its intended purpose, not to simply be my eye candy.

It's currently naked, and I have everything to return it to its Interstate form.

I figured I'd get some thoughts from you good folks before I officially list the beast for sale. I still have almost everything to build another bike around an '80 frame, so I'm not completely giving up my wings. Plus, I've started resurrecting an old Corvair, so there's still plenty to wrench on - which is the main reason I got the '83 in the first place!

If you aren't comfortable riding then sell it. It might sell better as a standard as there was only one more year they were available. Just stick around and keep advising and wrenching okay?

Also hate to see you sell it, but fully understand! Someone else will get a great bike and hopefully ride and ride! Every once in a while, I ran into the PO of our bike and he was always glad to see her back on the road!!

Sorry to hear your riding time is diminished...but I am looking forward to the corvair motor in the "80 frame. you won't have to deal with all that messy water plumbing.

Kick start to boot, very cool!

Sorry to hear Steve that your sight is letting you down and robbing you of riding your great work of art around town :(
Cool to hear that you have a Corvair project as well as potential for the 80? Just don't let Ralph Nader know :smilie_happy:

If I knew where Nader lived, I'd join a parade of Corvairs and drive past his house! I've owned 4 of them, and they are sweet little cars, once you put good push-rod tube seals in 'em, and keep the tire pressure where it's supposed to be.

I'll be listing the '83 here and on Craigslist, once I select the best pics of her.

Steve, having been someone that made that decision in the past and being miserable because of it, I just want to add: you have to do what you think is best, but be absolutely sure of what you want to do.

When I got rid of my Intruder, it was the right thing for me to do at the time because of my multiple sclerosis. Since then the Good Lord gave me back a lot of what I had lost and now I am able to ride again. Would it have been best to keep the Intruder sitting for years until my health improved: no, and because of that decision I was able to get the bike that I really wanted all along. Maybe your other bike is just a Corvair.
