The latest I have is they are now setting up the production line to make about 30 for crash tests. They'll build a couple, crash them, modify, repeat. They have 44,000 people that have put some money down on a place in line to get them. About 6600 of them put up an average of $3770. A lot of people really want to see this happen and they are putting up money to prove it.

I think they only have 5 prototypes so far. It's gotta hurt to watch the first 30 near-production models be run into a wall, but being able to say it meets Fed crash safety ratings for a car will be a huge selling point.

They are at least a year behind the promised schedule but they are still making progress. The engine looks good but I haven't heard anything about the trans yet. They plan to offer auto and manual. That's a tall order. Manuals are not so bad but automatics are complex machines.

Good news then. I'll wait for production to at least commence before I invest in one.

Me too, because by the time they start mass production a lot could change.

Kinda basic, :headscratch: but with some real power, & that kind of price, it could really take off, & be a popular vehicle.

People seem to really like them or instantly hate them. I think it's brilliant. A friend is on the $1000 deposit list so he will get one of the first few hundred. I can't wait to see it.

At the moment the engine is 55 HP which might be a bit sluggish, but they are going for 84 MPG. If these start selling and work well the aftermarket will go nuts. There are lots of customizing and performance mod possibilities.
