Afternoon everybody. I purchased a 1980 GL1100 this past weekend. I took what I had read on Goldwingfacts about what to look for and finally found one that seemed to be pretty nice(minus paint). It has 39K on the clock. As I was doing an inspection I noticed some antifreeze on the bottom of the waterpump and assumed it was leaking but after looking today I noticed its coming from the bottom outlet where it joins the radiator housing. I'm assuming that it has a small crack at the joint??? When I bought it, it was bone dry and I know the owner so he wouldn't have tried to hide something. Is this something I can have fixed at a radiator shop? And also should I change out the waterpump while I'm down there? So far I've changed the final drive fluid and went through the brakes. Going to change the timing belt for good measure and was going to flush the coolant system as well. Oh, and I made sure to post in the Newcomers section with a pic first. Thanks.

Could it be the coolant is seeping out from between the hose and copper radiator tube?
Try cranking the clamp a bit tighter, may stop it.

Changing the water pump is a bit involved.
Check it first.

This video shows an extremely loose water pump bearing. There should be no movement side to side or up and down. Loosness rotating is ok.
You remove the front water pump tube to check it:

If there's no play i'd leave it.

+1 on what Dan has stated. Also, prior to tightening the clamp, try cleaning the area up as much as possible, start it, and as it's climbing to operating temp., observe the suspected area of the leak. You may be able to spot it's origin and this (hopefully) may point to a clamp issue or maybe something else. For your question regarding the tank; any rad. shop can clean, pressure test and solder that tank. When I did my front end, I had the tank cleaned, pressure tested and the tubes re-soldered (just because that area is weak) for $28.
