A worthless China starter gear with the wrong splines comes in handy as a thick temporary shim while the top engine brackets are being used for the engine hoist and adds a element of art to the situation :smilie_happy:

Gears as paperweights or welded together to make an ashtray.
I know they're out there, share yours!

It's not a gear and it's not an ashtray, but it sure is worthless... just a simple door stop.

Once upon a time it was attached to the back end of an F/A-18 and was used to catch the wire and stop that plane from falling into the ocean off of the end of the carrier deck. Ah yes, if you want to realize what it is to be alive, walk around on a flight deck as that cable is stringing out just a mere few feet away from you.

A sucky pic, but it's the only one I had in my pic files. This is a piston & rod from a Top Fuel drag racing engine.....with a clock inserted. I've had thing this forever....the clock finally bit the dust, tho....

I also have a pic of a clock made from the pump of an automatic transmission somewhere...cant find it. :crying:

Now that I think aboot it, I made a stool out of an old '63 Corvette 4 speed transmission case/tailhousing. No pics of it...it's in my storage building....it's kinda neat.
Something else I made....I made a widdle scale sized floor jack out of some misc transmission parts, and the shank of an old golf club. It actually raises up and goes down. I made it as a display for car shows, to use with one of my Corvette kiddie cars.....I can get a pic of it...it's here in the house.

Otay, so while diggin around lookin for somethin else equally impotant, I found my clock pic.... :ahem:
