I ran across THIS earlier whilst looking at tire info...wonder what the heck is goin on?
On top o that....seems I have been PERMANENTLY banned from there, even tho I've never even seen the site until this mornin, and have never registered there. I guess my reputation precedes me... :crying: :smilie_happy:
This Shinko lasted longer mileage-wise than any of the other tires I've had on this turd, not counting the ones that got holes poked in them. Sure hope the new one doesn't have the weebles-wobble-but-they-don't-fall-down syndrome like this one did...

It's all in the load rating of the tire. Buy a tire for a light weight bike and put it on a heavy bike and see what happens.

I have had nothing to complain about any of the Shinkos I have had on my 1100. Miles and cost considered, I am ahead by buying the less expensive tire but I install them myself.

I'm not a big fan of changing tires myself but after the dealer screwed me. I bought the tools and ordered my tires.

I've gotten so good at it that I can go from a complete bike back to a complete bike in 1 and 1/2 hours using tire spoons and a HF bead breaker.

Dadgum you O-man!! Just you thinkin it caused it to happen!!

:sensored: :Awe:

No matter...this tire lasted 8500 miles..the most of any, other than the original Dunlop. I dint even know it had the nail in it until I got it off the rim, so I musta picked it up on the ride home Friday. No air pressure loss, either, so this thing hadn't been in it long at all.

Got the new Shinko mounted and installed, anyway. Tread depth is .308"....let the wear test begin! :smilie_happy:

Nice looking A230 Joel :good:
If you get a chance with this new one try and use up some of that tread on the sides

Yeah, he needs some miles out of them chicken strips on the sides. :whistling:

Youse guys...yeeesh!

My daily ride is 40 miles each way, straight down the freeway...ain't many curves to hug. I do lean it on the interchanges as much as possible.... :hihihi:

Unfortunately when you are using them to commute it is hard to avoid wearing out the center especially on your freeways

Yeah....road surface prolly has as much to do with it as anything.
So....remember me complaining about the "wobbly" feeling I got when I mounted these Shinkos last year? Well...that DID get better with time, and eventually went away as the rear tire wore to about 1/2 tread. BUT....this new one does the same dam thing.... :sensored:  Only it seems much worse. I seriously thought I had a low/flat front tire yesterday morning on the ride in, even tho I checked pressure on front and rear tire before I left the house(32 frt/42rr). Downright dangerous, and scarey as hell! Ride home was no better. I checked everything on the front when I got home, and again this morning, in case something had gotten loose or something, but found nothing. Plus...I changed nothing on the bike other than the rear tire. Dint mess with anything on the front. I even checked the air pressure in the forks and rear shocks, and both ends are at the same pressures I've also run in them. Checked the bolts on the front forks, triple tree, all of that. There ain't nothing on the rear except the axle to check, and it is fine.
It feels like I'm riding on ice at times....the front is just moving around, but it feels like a low tire. I'm convinced rubber compound on these dang Shinkos are just too dam soft for my application. I liked the longer mileage I got from it, but I don't think I'll be replacing it with another Shinko when the time comes. :nea:
And before anyone says it, I know new tires are kinda slick until the mold release agent wears off....it ain't that, 'cause I know what that feels like. I think I'll be going back to either the Dunlops, or possibly I'll try the Bridgestones again next time. :headscratch:
