ok, so here is a dumb question...how hard would it be to remove a fairing from an 82 Interstate and just go to plain headlight and turn signals? The reason I am asking.....I dropped mine on a ride Friday night and broke the plastic on inside of fairing and scratched the heck out of the outside portion. I'm thinking it will be hard to find a good replacement the right color; wineberry. What parts would I need to be looking for?

The only parts needed would be the turn signals, headlight bucket, and mounting ears. The hardest part of switching over would be finding stock parts but there are a lot of aftermarket parts out there if you are not looking to keep it original.

I am in the process of doing the same thing except that my bike was originally a Standard. OEM parts take a bit to come by, but they are out there. From Interstate to naked might take a bit more wiring research.

yeah, I was wondering about the wiring too. I do have the service manual that covers all models, so hopefully I can figure it out.

Its just a matter of finding the correct color wire and tapping into it for the headlight and turn signals.
