I am replacing the silver aluminum trim on front below the windscreen. The clymer says there are nuts on the back but I did remove and replace a mirror without removing any nuts, just the screws. Did I just get lucky and the nuts stuck to the faring.
As well there doesnt seem to be any screws holding the speakers, do these snap over a frame and if so where are the pull away points?
Thanks for any help on this.

yes, there are steel square securing nuts that can easily slip out

you have to remove the turnsignal lenses to access the backside of the speakers where there are securing wingnuts,

for 82a that is

Thanks guys, I suppose I could just carefully remove them and if they fall out then start removing the speakers, guages. The book didnt get into how the speakers and nuts are retained.

The brackets in the speaker housings are SUPPOSED to hold the mirror nuts in place, but they can be difficult to align for re-assembly. The 2 screws in the center of the trim are also held in with nuts. They are visible unless you have a gauge/meter pod between the speakers, and it's bracket SHOULD hold the nuts in place. Have fun!

What Steve said....."Should" just be careful when removing, (like the wing nuts holding the speakers on)... getting things out of the bottom of the inside of the fairing is a bitch....
