Hi, new to the forum. Got a 83 aspencade that met up with a 3 point buck a few weeks ago, glad to say I got to walk away with some road rash on the knees and a cracked small bone in my left leg, the deer wasn't so lucky. Any way the bike has a cracked fairing, and cracked lower fairing, and the crash bars did their job in saving the rest of the bike. So is it worth fixing or should I replace? The vast amount of knowledge on this sight is amazing so somebody should be able to give me some insight! Thanks Paul

I didn't have that much fun with my close call. I got hit in the back just enough to make me fall on the left. The windshield broke off..like you the crash bar saved everything BUT the highway peg went threw the timing cover...just touched and shredded the left belt which then wound up under the right belt and bent 5 valves.. Had a bit of fun finding parts but it's all done now and runs great. Look for the stuff you need and you might find it's easy? Howard

Are you talking about just replacing the fairing or replacing the bike??? If you mean the fairing and the cracks are sever, scrap the fairing as any repair probably won't last too long.

If you are talking about the bike, I'd keep it! If you are talking about the leg, well I'm no Doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night... :smilie_happy:

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome,
The lower pieces can be found pretty cheap if you do some looking and waiting. Over the past year I have seen Honda line faring in good shape sell pretty cheap, seems allot of them get taken off because they want a faringless bike or just a parted out bike.
First consider what you want to do. An exact color match may take some time but you wont have to paint, A non match is easier to find but you may want to paint.
Look on all the GL forums for sale section, put an ad in the wanted sections and haunt Epay every day paying special attention to local sales to save shipping costs.
After your initial search on that auction site just choose newly listed items next time and that makes searching easier.
Good luck with your bike.
