Is 1200 saddlebag any bigger than 1100?
Thinking about increasing luggage capacity for camping trip.

Is it difficult to attach 1200 bags to 1100 rack?

What about 1500?
I think I like that side-open lid.

The side opening bags are pretty nice....

:Doh2: Good greif.

The 1500 bags are all molded to the rest of the Tupperware, I'm not sure how it would look even if you could mount them. Also the mechanisms for opening the 1500 side bags runs up to the trunk.

LOL!
Assuming the rider won't close the lid and ride.

Oh I see. I was wondering where the lock is on 1500 bag.

What about the capacity?
You have experiences with 1100 and 1500, Mr. ~O~

If that was in India or one of the Stan's... who knows for sure. :smilie_happy:

Skiri251, did you have a build thread on your sidecar? Curious how it handles the curves and how tire wear goes.

It's in sidecar section.

https://www.classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1142

It handles pretty much like a motorcycle.
Tire wear appears to be normal (like a solo motorcycle) for the unison leaner.

For hybrid leaner (only motorcycle leans, like my previous XS750 rig), I noticed front tire wear was uneven. Less were in the center of the tread. I think it was due to the fact that motorcycle needed to pull/push the sidecar to turn in the corner.

If the baby is in a car seat and the bag has ventilation holes, I guess it will work. Legal or not.
May be a very good remedy for colicky babies. LOL

I know it can be done easily. There is a fella on this forum(think he`s in England) that did it to his and the thread explained it. Maybe he`ll chime in soon.

I can't tell ya sorry, my 1100 had an aftermarket trunk and oversized soft bags that were huge.

When Gerry and I rode out/back to Joe's place I missed my Vetter bags with the side opening doors, but I know I am able to carry a LOT more stuff in the Interstate bags than I ever could fit inside the Vetter's. Now you mention the 1500 bags and now I have to go and look for some to see how that would work.

I have Vetter bags and a trunk on my XS750.
One thing I like about Vetter bags is that I can store my helmet in it.
Can't do that with 1100 bags.
I was wondering about the capacity. So 1100 holds more than Vetter?
Guess because Vetter is somewhat odd triangular shape.

1500 side-opening looks really nice....

The odd shape of the Vetter bags detract from the capacity. I have done camping trips with both a full Vetter setup and a full Interstate setup. If I had my way, I would have the Interstate bags with the Vetter trunk (I can't do that right now because my Vetter trunk is on my Dad's Helix)

That to me would be the best of both worlds.

I replaced 1100 trunk with Contico 23Gal storage trunk (12.25"x17"x32") from Lowe's.
Yes, it's bulky and ugly but does the job. Who needs a vanity mirror anyway? My hair is guaranteed to be messy when I camp. LOL

But I don't want to put heavy stuff like cooler box up there.. so wondered if there are bigger saddle bags.
Trailer is the best for this but then freeway speed limit is 55 MPH.

1100 or 1200 interstate?

i thought the 1200 bags were bigger, certainly the trunk is and pretty much bolts on to a 1100 rack after drilling a few holes, no longer quick detach tho might be doable with more work, they also have a more elaborate updated padding setup

1200 bags mount up to 1100 hardware with some easy shimming/bracket mods but you also have to deal with rear turnsignals that are built in the 1100 bags

you could prob customize the 1500 setup, trimming with a dremel etc but it is designed as an integral unit fit, and i haven't gone there yet but prob ideal would be adapting the 1500 mounting system up to the 1100

bottom line is i've not seen 1500 trunk/bags setup on a diff model other than drawings/sketches, pretty sure the 1500 has the most stock luggage capacity of all the models

i've looked at and there are many atv trunk options out there that would be great for bikes
