Of course! Isn't that the '79 GLX1900? :smilie_happy:

Just something to add to the bigger bag mix......I loaded up my bike pretty good to head out to the meet and greet last August. I have the Hondaline aftermarket bags which are detachable like the Vetter's and do allow a full size helmet to fit, but they do not hold as much as the 1100 bags. Side by side with Brian's bike gave me a real good idea of what fits in either and his 1100 bags won!

However, I also found out that with the bike loaded up, it started to get a high speed wobble in turns when traveling at highway speeds over 80 MPH. Added air to the front forks helped, but afterward it was determined that the bike was just overloaded. I also moved my trunk back 2" on the rear rack to make some more room for my Wife to ride with me. 2" may not seem like much, but with a loaded trunk and luggage on the bag rack, it moved the weight way back past the rear axle which exasperated the wobble....too much weight aft.

For me, I will be more careful loading up and stay within the load limits. Moreover, I would like to just add a trailer for the big stuff and lighten up the bike!

Just a little heavy? :hihihi:

I saw GL1500 with huge box on the trailer hitch. Seems to be hitch mounted carrier thing.
Yes, trailer is ideal for the load but here in SoCal 55MPH speed limit on freeways really bothering.
I just can't blend into the traffic with that speed.

largest bag capacity the 1500 wing, then the 1200 wing

Thanks.
I see 1500 bags for less than $100 shipped on eBay.
May try the transplant.

It didn't help having that big air dam, err I mean suitcase, strapped to the back seat either. Especially when it was sitting upright.

Now wait just a minute......that suitcase in an upright position was like a crash test dummy! I was testing real world conditions WITHOUT putting my Wife at risk! Had she come on the trip, it would have been her with her head up instead of a suitcase!

Are you calling my Wife a "Big air dam"????? :smilie_happy: :help: (She finds out we called her an air dam and you can be sure I won't be going on any trips this year!) :hihihi:

I like the 1200 bags over the 11. And I have both.. trunk is larger also.. but not by much.. when I travel I like towing my 18 cu ft cargo trailer... but the 12 does not have the hitch for it installed.. looking for that...

Who made that/those/it?

Read about the Bish trip trunk here:

Wow!
Very nice story. I want one too!

My wife will kill me for posting this, but it's the only pic I have here.

These are 05+- gl1800 bags. They are a bit farther back than I want. I can move them forward only a bit more or I run into not being able to get the side covers off. Still haven't been painted and need the bottom rear running lights or need to be filled. I have had these on for three and a half years. I ran cables up under the tank shelter next to the gas cap to open them. They could be a little lower or higher depending on what you want. I have never scraped with them but I'm no canyon carver.

bike looks like a 1000, how'd you mount the bags?

i've seen 1100 factory mounts modded for 1000 bikes

Very nice!
I bought 1500 bags from eBay. Hope I can mount them as good as you did.

Good idea.
