Seized clutch cable

My old wing was laid up for a few years. I have it now running and seems to be ready to roll. Problem is, the clutch cable is seized from sitting. I wonder is there a way to free it, or just go buy a new cable.

if it is the cable you are probably better off with a new one. Did you disconnect it from the clutch lever on the motor? That lever (actuator) might be rusted solid. Soaking the cable in penetrating oil can sometimes free it.

Yep, it's off the bike, really seized, maybe easier to replace it

I had a bad experience with Motion Pro. The clutch cable I got from them lasted about a month. The bit at the end of the cable simply came off. :roll:

This cable is relatively new. It's just that the old bike sat for a period of time and the cable seized. I would rather get this one working, but if it has to be replaced, so be it lol

If time is not a problem, coil it in a container and fill with diesel so that the cable is totally covered after a few days you may be able to free it up

Yer prolly better off goin with a new cable, but I would say go ahead and see if you can get the other one freed up....and keep it on hand for emergencies. Like others here, I've had mine snap the end off at the worst possible time. Never hertz to have a spare on hand(or in the saddlebag). :yes:
