There is more carb work to come, still have that weber which needs a new manifold. But I think I'll put that off so I can enjoy a riding season for a change since I missed all of last summer just getting it running.

I originally bought this back at the beginning of last summer and at the time thought I'd have it back on the road in two weeks. Two weeks turned into nearly 52 weeks, because I still have all the cosmetics to go and will be pushing just to get that done before summer, lots of work left.

Still no lights or turn signals or seat or fenders either, but I've been riding it anyway as a bare frame using a folded up piece of carpet for a seat. It looks like the rattiest rat bike on the road, but people have said it sounds nice and they're right it does, mostly thanks to you guys.

I found jcwhitney is doing a clearance on carb/spark plug wire covers for oldwings, only $16 shipped, over 50% off...

Thanks. It took 3 months of thinking about it and looking at other options until I finally gave in and bought it. It was a bargain, less than I got for the old seat/backrest, so even at $80 shipped it really didn't cost me a thing.(other than the jokes I'm sure to get from other people for having a seat too groovy for this century.)

White is a surprisingly forgiving color on a vehicle itself, but have to agree with Joe. Seat gets way too dirty, for white as a color choice for me. That said, I'm sure it looks great on yours !!! :wave: opcorn:

White is less than ideal for me too, but i just had to try it. I'll have to baby it and still I expect to be recovering it in a year or two. I have some leather that will look nice on it when the time comes to recover it.

Its vinyl. In the past I've tried vinyl "dyes" but they're actually just a flexible paint. They just coat the outide of vinyl, it doesnt penetrate. It worked for the trim inside my old vw bug, but that stuff wouldn't hold up to use on a seat.

I'm thinking about making a clear plastic cover for the seat for day to day use, that could help.

This wing isn't made for long trips, its made for daily commuting to work amd fun around the city. But I am looking for a way to make the seat quick disconnect so it can be swapped for a bagger rear end and stock seat without tools. I don't have a stock seat or bags yet though, so for now it is what it is.

I think I do want an old school backrest and easily removed windscreen also, but that kind of stuff will have to wait.

Apparently I just can't catch a break. I just went for a short ride and she blew the accessory fuse, 15amp. All I have on that line is the vw carb heater and carb anti diesel solenoid, plus the electric fuel pump. Those shouldn't pull enough power to overload a 15 amp fuse right? Just checking...

I put in a 20 amp fuse and all was working again, and I don't see any short anywhere, so can't see why it would have blown the 15.
