We had to go to L.A. last weekend. Left Sunday to be there Monday morning. Got a suite out by the airport, then shot downtown in the morning. For those unfamiliar, downtown you have to pay to park. I haven't lived in the area since 1981 and as progress would have it, everything changes. After getting there with little time to spare before our appointment, I am discovering there is no place to park a motorcycle. All the parking garage and lot attendants kept turning me away saying they don't take motorcycles. Well, this sucks! I ended up dropping the ol'lady off with the needed paperwork and continued circleing downtown looking for a place to park. Each lot I tried got farther away from our destination. Finally I saw a Burger King and the light turned on. I parked in their lot and bought a coke and waited for mama to call me when she was done. Cost me the price of a soda to park for the day. While sitting at BK watching traffic go by I noticed mostly the worst polluting cars going by with only one person. Gotta ask myself, how can one of the worlds largest and buisiest cities, and one of the country's worst air quality problems be so motorcycle "un"-friendly?

BTW, Agnus ran like a peach all the way @43 MPG two up.

That's strange Ron, must be that area.
I think every place I've gone to in L.A didn't even charge for motorcycles, I've never been turned away.

Not having to pay for parking can have it's disadvantages too.
Evidently that doesn't apply to 15 minute zones

I had to visit the IRS in one of the federal buildings here, and the parking was open to all. I had to pay the same as a car...Giving bikes and hybrids a discount would be a simple easy start towards going "green.".

Never happen, it's too logical and beyond comprehension for most bureaucrats.

Just so you guys know. Any public owned parking garage that is built and supported by Federal tax dollars has to allow motorcycles. I know a lot of them in LA are private and this doesn't apply but usually parking garages near government buildings belong to the city and I'll bet a dollar to a donut they were built with Federal funds.

The parking structure across the street from the federal bldg we went to was the first place we tried. I was surprised and caught off guard. Never expected that. The person who turned me away was in uniform, I assumed it was a city employee. (?) But I don't know that for sure. Everything seemed so "rush-rush-rush". Guess I've lost my big city way of think'n. Felt almost like a country bumpkin. And the freeways seem so much worse than they used to. Maybe they need me back?
