Thanks Dan, That was kind of my thinking also. The bolt has a compression washer that is part of the bolt itself that is why he wanted to go with the original bolt if possible. Since the engine is out of the bike I'm just wondeing how much damage was done to the stator. Should be no problem rethreading the shaft, I was told the threads go quite deep. It must have realley backed out, he showed me the bolt and only about 3/8 inch of the tip is stripped. I'm sure glad I retorqued mine and I wouldn't even have known about the potential problem if it hadn't been for you guys.
 
if you guys come up short send me a PM. I'll run over to the local salvage and grab one up for ya... I know they have a few :)
also loc-tite is a good idea even when they are torqued properly.
