hi, just seen you post, i can say with confidence, that living in the uk like your self, you are looking for parts that just do not exsist over hear and in the death i went on holiday to u.s.a. to try and track down spare parts for the gl1200 std, thats what honda called the unfaired model gl1200 and was not imported here offically and i believe that only 8 examples exsist here and are treasured by there owners, so you really have youre work cut out for your self.
you will need to convert to a new rear mudguard, tail lamp bracket, dummy fuel tank sides, clocks from a interstate, head light and brackets aswell and possibly a speedo drive. i have managed to collect some of this stuff from the u.s.a. at great expence for insurance for my own bike in case of damage.
before you go down this path try a ordinary bike over 70mph without a fairing first you may like me have forgotten what it feels like being blown around. however that said the std bike feels a lot quicker than the faired one does.
if i can help any further let me know and ill try my best.

yes having a dressed bike ...makes making a another bike nakidd or standard easier i would go without a dresser to ride for the comfort and it just seems what it takes for complete bike ....on the otherhand i have a nakidd 77 with 1200 motor moded and put in that can go to the drag strip and do well .....

I agree, I ride my Aspy whenever we ride a lot of freeway or planning on putting in 300 + miles.
I ride the naked bike when i want to hot rod around, but have ridden it for over 500 miles on a couple of occasions. The small slip-streamer is easily removed for a more gangsta look. LOL.
They are totally different and that's what I really like.

I think the only way I'd go naked is if I had a second bike.
For long trips, dressed is the best!
I agree! BUT...my original Suzuki GN 400 only had a Plexi-Faring II windshield with no bags and that bike was a blast on the highway!

I had to look several times before I understood the title....
When I first saw the title, I wuz thinkin..."Hmmm....I don't think I'mma gunna regret staying dressed, but iffin I wuzzn't, ya'll might regret it quickly!"...
(now there's a happy visual, eh?) :smilie_happy:

I'd have to agree with having a 2nd bike to go nekkid....too much work/parts involved to change a dresser, plus you loose most of the comfort aspect of a dresser.

Problem is i have,

1ea 83' GL1100 was a Interstate, it went Naked
1ea 84' GL1200 was a Aspy, It went Naked
1ea 86' GL1200 Was a Interstate, It went Naked
1ea 88' GL1500 was dressed, it went or is going naked.

so the 2nd, 3rd, 4th bike theory did not work with me, I like naked

Bikes look at me and go naked.

I still have all their closes.

two thumbs up ..!! I like the dressed but some days are TOO hot for all the plastic .. that's why I got the scooter..!

Ok just saw, that it is a 85 Honda V65 Sabre (my scooter)

I always liked the V45 & V65, I never got a chance to ride one though.

I was envisioning a Vespa 125.

miss daisy used to be dressed. but i can hardly hold her up naked.. had a nice sunday for about half a day. so i put some jouise to the battery. and hit the starter, and when she got some gas. fired right up.
