I am a lucky man and thankful to the good Lord to tell this with just embarrassment, no injuries. I was unloading my bike from the back of my pickup which has a thirteen inch platform of tools in the bed. Stupid, I unloaded it in a parking lot with a car on each side. I have only done this a couple times before. I started to let it roll back and down my three foot wide ramp, but... Forgot to put up the kick stand. The bike had already picked up enough gravity that the front tire just kept sliding. I was stuck. I couldn't lean it over enough to put up the kick stand. I fought it but was losing an inch at a time. I yelled for help, but no one was around. I lasted about a minute. Eventually, over I went. I figured my leg would be mangled or worse. Crash.

When I crawled out from underneath, I had no nicks, no scratches, no pain, no dirty shirt, no scratched palms, elbows, or knees. How could this be?? Wow and I got lucky and didn't hurt the car next to me. I kept taking personal inventory, the only hing that hurt was my ego and my baby gl. The more I looked, I then noticed.....how could this be??? Ohhhho , simple, steel car broke my fall.

That's gonna hurt. Now I know unloading in the parking lot is dumb. I just thought it was easy peasy. But if I had done this in the open, I am quite sure I would have significant injury and bike would too. The bike has a scratched exhaust, scratched mirror, scratched grab handle. That's it.

So Dad, I learned today that when unloading a motorcycle on a ramp, you better have that kickstand up.

We called police to be sure it was all up to snuff. He said since this happened on private property, I didn't need to file an accident report. I am not sure how this will be covered, pickup, bike, or homeowner' insurance.

Oh man! That is the pricey way of offloading the bike. So good only minor injury to you and the bike. Now I know why kickstand up is always my first move. :good:

Thanks a lot, Joe....errrrr..Dad. I will. I am still pretty wound, adrenaline I guess. Feel sick to my stomach. I just looked in the mirror and I have wrinkle marks in my skin to match the fender. I am going out to check the forks and see if I missed anything else. I am grounding myself.....for tonight. Gotta call my Mom and thank her for all the prayers for me.

Glad to hear that you and the bike survived without too much damage :good:
If you look on YouTube at accidents while loading bikes it will make us all question how we approach this in the future.
Once again glad that you are ok Eric :good: :good:

Coincidence? I believe the good Lord decided I couldn't afford to be hurt today. However, I was at the parking lot of the Shooting Star Casino. On my bike I used two steel thermoses, one for radiator overflow and the other for my tool kit.

Look carefully at the thermoses, they are freebies from.............the Shooting Star Casino. They give them out during your birthday month. And just so you know, I won't put a penny in the machines. This is the wife's vice. I tolerate it.

Man!..Glad your relatively OK..Could have been worse..I had an aluminum ramp fold on me going down with the bike on it..All alone and Nearly the same thing.

Glad you're OK - the only bruise is the ego. That happened to me with a piano almost 30 years ago. Oh sure, I can do it alone - until a wheel slips off the ramp and I know whatever I do, there will be damage. Like you, I held it for a minute or so, then just jumped clear and watched it crash. It's not a good feeling knowing there's nothing you can do, but we survived and learned. Oh, the piano survived - with major damage, but it was an interesting repair project.

 :beg:   :heat: :whistling: :good: :thanks:

your Lucky you wasn't hurt. them Side Stands will hurt you if your not careful , I tore a CB750 Honda all up , because of leaving the kick stand down. :music2:

Glad you are OK, the fender on that Ford is an easy fix, broken bones are not. And, that is what insurance is for, to cover those times when things just don't go as planned.
