Are you letting the spare alternator rest next to your spare tires? (You know they talk and probably talked those brushes into crapping out early. Its a game they play.) Fix the alternator and you know you will get a flat. :hihihi:

Well...new brushes dint fix the alt, even tho one of them was definitely worn slap out.

Installed, but not charging at all. Tore it back down to make sure everything was assembled correctly, and reinstalled, but still no work. Had to put the "spare" back on. I may tear my original 40amp alt down tomorrow to see if the brush holder for the aftermarket alt will fit in it. If it does, I'll swap in the new brushes, install the original to see if it works correctly. If it does, I'll swap back to the spare and keep the orig as the "new spare". Wishes me luckies!!!!

Not that I'm aware of. I replaced the brushes in the alt that's on the bike now with no problems. I have a sneaky feeling that the regulator took a doo-doo on the one I just did. :yes:
