Looks very nice but why advertise for Honda after the way they have become a true 21st century american company. All the things they have done to the flagship to bring it back to the dealer,is shameful. The old man must be spinning in his grave,as he wanted a motorcycle, head & shoulders above any thing else, you didn't have to fool with.He had that in SPADES,with the 1200.The 1500 has no top end, lots of torque.Never drove a 1800,but no top end to compare to the 1200 on any wing after 87,from my experience with my 1500,& what i've read about the 1800.

So maybe BSA isn't so crazy

I like it unmarked too. I also like the BSA sticker. Maybe put the sticker on the cowl to make folks believe it's a BSA cowl you adapted?

there a reason i call them oldwings ... name change away from honda ...just kidding ... i actually misspelled it then looked at it and like it .....been misspelling it ever since along with a lot of other words .... :laptop:  :0fftopic:

It's not that serious thing for me, and I might not use them, but the reason I was thinking about it is that;

I think they look good. Their bikes weren't great but they had nice decals. :eek:k:
Still have a nestalic affection for old Brit bikes. So it would be sort of a tribute to Brit bikes. :rocks:
Would be interesting to hear comments.
I already have them so no cost, no wait. :Egyptian:

I really like the way the oldwing looks and runs now but I need to make some changes to make it more comfortable for long rides. It's funny, that I used to find low bars with a forward lean riding position comfortable because I used to have lower back issues. Now I find that my upper back, between my shoulders, aches after and hour or so of riding.

I've read on here from several members that a backrest made a big difference in comfort so I decided to add one. Couldn't afford $200+ for a Utopia so decided to fab one up myself. All the foam is gone from drivers seat back on my seat so I figured it would be easy to have a brace under the cowl.

I have about 6' of 3 1/2" x 1/4" flat steel so decided to use that. With the cowl removed, I carved the foam out where the backrest mount would go. Figured I would bend the flat steel to fit against the step in the seat pan so the bar would go vertically up behind the drivers seat. Used 5/16" bolts through the seat pan to hold the back rest bar.

I marked the bar where it goes through the top of the seat.
Then I cut the bar in a flat-bottomed V so that the top piece fits into the bottom piece.
Then I cut 2 flat steel pieces to go on each side of the lower bar so I had a cavity that the top piece fits into. Used 1/4" bolts to hold it all together.
Bolted it back onto the seat pan so I had a lower backrest support that was flush with the seat and then a bar that went into the cavity in the lower piece. I know...clear as mud eh.

Because the male/female pieces are in a V it makes for a very solid connection when one is fitted into the other.

I then added a brace from the top of the lower mount to the back of the seat pan using 2" x 1/8" steal bar.

It feels very solid when I lean my back against it. I am now experimenting with different backrests and angles using one I made out to plywood with foam stapled to it. I adjust the angle by bending the upper bar.
Took a 100 km ride yesterday and I really like the back rest. No aches or pains at all.

Very nice addition but detracts a bit from the streamlined look. Comfort is worth it though in my book.

Try lower and lower back rests until it just isn't enough. Then go back maybe an inch higher. Great mod BTW!
