I am not sure what kind of power original CycleSound system has but will upgrade cost $250?

4" marine speaker pair (Pyramid) $20

plus

Pyle marine amp $20

or

Pyle marine radio w/ MP3 (SD card slot) $60..

so to me it's $40 ~ $80 upgrade.

Mine is a clone except there is not a spot for the antenna.

Have you looked at the "rubber ducky" style car antennas? You.can get a complete set-up and just drill the hole you need. Ruin a ground white to the chassis, and should work just fine. Maybe like this one at jcwhitney? ....

I have the Cycle Sound in a Hondaline fairing (doesnt have the antenna hole). Just last summer I bought a "hidden" antenna. Its like the original laminar one that came in some Cycle Sound units. Its basically an adhesive metal strip. I have mine stuck up inside my fairing....works great and its invisible lol !!!

I have around $100 in the stereo and speakers (Kenwood/Pioneer) and sound is pretty good.
I would like some higher wattage speakers, mine get distorted at interstate speeds, 60 and under and Im more than happy.

It really seems like the small 4" speakers are the limiting factor. A booster amp can pump out a lot of power, easily more than the 4" inchers can handle. Distortion then Kicks in.

This thing bolted rite up to the fairing. Flush mount screws on the windshiled clips and the two below.. so cool

If it helps, I made this out of mine last year, decided I needed sounds working on it rather than riding it, the new speakers cost about $40, 100w, neoprene cone gaskets and magnets almost as big as the speakers, I can turn this thing way up with no distortion at all.

need to know how you mounted the speakers in there. I have the older style that the speakers are really small in diamater..

They're just 4" speakers, they fit in the regular way, maybe the covers make them look bigger but it's only the magnets that where really big and that just meant I had to push them a little harder into the foam rubber that the thing is filled with to dampen any vibration, big magnets are the cornerstone of good speakers. IMHO. :music2: :fiddle: :music:

There were some that actually used 3 1/2" speakers. I think they had a trim ring that was attached to the top or the bottom half and the speakers mounted into them. I know my Cycle Sound for the Hondaline fairing takes 4" speakers and they just mount with four corner screws like a "normal" speaker. There were of course more than one style of Cycle Sound pod...one for Vetter Windjammer fairings, one for Hondaline fairings, and maybe more.

The speakers I used are Infinity speakers with a Sony Marine AM/FM/CD iPod unit. I have had them in for over 5 years and yes I can clearly hear (with a face shield down) at 82 MPH and have driven through numerous rain storms without any issues!

I can get the specs for them posted later.

On the 1100 I just have a pair of $40 speakers that I got at the local Wally World and the only time I lose the sound is above 85 mph... The problem though is that the people riding with me claim they can't hear there stereo over mine.

Hey that's great, I think I can get a cheap amplifier for my existing radio and $40 wally speakers and be set for low $$$.
