Hello All....New member here waiting for Spring so I can pick up my 1984 GL1200 standard..Last time on a Wing was when I owned a GL1100 and thought I'd get another of these great highway machines...Presently own a Ural rig and a Guzzi V7...This seems to be a great site with lots of info...looking forward to the ride...JR

84 1200 is a fine bike! i might be a little biased though. I have two of them. One standard the other dressed. Starting to warm just now so once you get your new baby home post up any questions. We have a fine membership here with great answers.

Thanks all for the words of welcome....Not only does the temperature have to go up here in Quebec, but the law says that vehicles over the winter months must have gov. approved "winter tyres" (indicated by a symbol put on by the manufacturer on the tyre casing)...as no such thing exists for motorcycles, we are off the highways and byways until the end of the designated period....In other words, if a short January thaw occurs where the roads are snow and ice free, I could end up getting stopped by the police and ticketed while out on my Ural sidecar outfit!....This, of course, doesn't stop the government from charging a full years registration!...The trials of being a minority with little leverage against the powers that be!!!...Oh well!!..(mini rant finished)...JR
