i dosnt appear my 80 parts bike or the 82 i have but cant rob have one ... cant see the angry dresser as false tank is on but i couldnt take that one anyway ... seems the 1100 change more through the yrs in electrical stuff more than any other models ... i should have an 83 harnest somewhere just not sure where ...ill keep looking....
 
They call this unit a rectifier but I am pretty sure that it is just a blocking diode, if you look closely at the wiring diagram it will confirm this. You could use any reasonable diode as a replacement once you know the direction/ polarity from the wiring diagram.

Agreed.
Diodes have 2 solder pins on them. May plug into the harness plug. Not sure it would make a tight connection, then I'd solder on an appropriate size copper wire that plugs in tight, tape over it to insulate and call it a day.
 
You could crimp and solder 2 female spade crimps onto the diode legs and just plug them into the FM plug in place of the original unit.
