Hi removed my 1100 gw water pump. on the top of the pump there is a hole about 4-5 mm with a passage down toward the shaft does anyone know what this is used for?

Also known as the "weep hole" to us regular folks in the states.
It's actually on the bottom of the pump, and lines up with the hole in the front engine cover. It allows coolant or oil to exit the engine if one of the seals fails, to prevent oil/coolant mix inside the engine.
