can a gl1000 engine temp sensor be used in a 1100 engine?
My 1100 fan comes on but takes forever to turn off. turn the engine off for 10-20 minutes and trun key back on-the fan will start running. Only after an hour of sitting will the fan not be running when key turned on.

I'm not certain but I think you can swap the fan switches. Have you checked to see if the motor is running hot? Is the radiator plugged. Are fins bent flat? Have you checked the thermostat? Is the thermostat bypass plugged? Some things to check.

Most fan switches would turn on after the engine is shut down for awhile and the key turned back on. Your conditions do seem extreme and more than likely a faulty fan switch or lack of coolant (air pocket) in your system. Make sure you check your coolant levels at the radiator and not just the overflow bottle.

What is your temp gauge reading when the fan turns on and once you turn it back on. Also remember once you shut the engine off the coolant is not longer flowing through the engine to it takes the engine some time to cool down. As stated above make sure your cooling system is working properly but my wing will do the same thing.
