Hello Everybody,

I'm not new to riding motorcycles, but I am to fixing them, I have three motorcycles and 1 parts bike.

83 CSR KAWASKI 650 - brought this bike 7 years ago, it had 8,000 on it, almost 20,000 now, Has never left me on the side of the road.

1986 Honda NightHawk sc700cb, got this Legend with 17,000 now has almost 23,000. Has an electrical problem, that I have to solve yet :beg: , but she runs like a Bat out of Hell. all stock.

 and Now my New Bike:

:yahoo: :yahoo: A 1983 Honda Goldwing GL1100, Just brought her last year with 17,000, brown Naked. I'm looking for this bike to replace the ones above. she doesn't have brakes right now, I just made a small investment on the brakes at PartsNmore.com I'll be rebuilding the brakes myself, it will be the 1st time I've attempted this but, I'm confident I can get this done. :ahem: of course with your help!

Welcome from Southern California! Naked '83...nice machine! First year for the linked brakes, but they're still pretty easy to work on. We're here for you if you have any questions. How 'bout some pics?!?!

Finally, I was wondering when you would get here..Glad you joined. Brakes are going to be easy, should be but might run into a corroded master cylinder, brake piston I used my small compressor and aired up the zerk fitting with the piston facing a pile of rags in case it shot out, it didn't, it just came nearly out and I was able to muscle it out the rest of the way.
Good luck, we`ll be around if you need us.

Welcome,
You are about experience the enjoyment, fulfillment, sense of achievement that comes with repairing, restoring, or just plain maintaining your bike.

Don't get me wrong it's not all gravy, there will be frustration at times.

Joining a moto specific forum is a major step towards successfully learning a bike inside and out.

I enjoy working on bikes almost as much as riding them, always have.

Welcome to the site from New Jersey! :clapping:

Get the brakes fixed! Don't go trying a Flintstone stop, these bikes are a bit heavy for that! :smilie_happy:

Welcome from Buffalo...have fun with those brakes, I have both linked and unlinked '83's and there're not so bad. Oh, and pics, we love pics!

Welcome to CGW.

If your brakes are suspect do yourself a favor and rebuild the calipers, master cylinders, and replace the lines. In the long haul you will know exactly what you have and if your brakes were to fail you would it really be worth saving $180 for the replacement lines?

If the cylinders are funky, and the calipers are funky, what are the odds that the lines are in good shape?

Do it right the first time and never have to worry about it again.
