These self righteous bike riders piss me off.
My opinion is the MC rider is an idiot and should have let her in. It's easy to see he was looking for an excuse to be an A-hole.
What we don't see is what he did prior to giving her a hard time. Speeding? Splitting the lane?
And what gives him the right to exceed the speed limit behind the cop? Not a damn thing that's what!
Lol, he wouldn't last more than a day in L.A.

if your on a bike ..and you missed trouble from an idiot driver like her ...falling back and have that in front of you beats what he did ...im glad the bitch got nailed hopefully...but to challenge cars on a bike ...is like a car challenging a semi ...its plain stupid to do

Car vs motorcycle, who do you think will win. Personally I would have preferred to fall in behind her. I would like to see what really happened with the cop, and I wonder if this clown was an off duty cop.

If he keeps up with an arrogant and aggressive attitude like that his riding days may be numbered.

He's damn lucky it was her and not me! He sped up to block her from getting in. That's apparent. By traffic she may have been wrong but so was he.

Block this or try to share the lane!

I think a lot of his wrong action was driven by frustration with modern day pushy (I'm bigger than you type) drivers and their aggressive tactics.
Not that I think it was smart or safe but I understand his anger at distracted or pushy or aggresive drivers, it can really get to you.

Being dead right isn't a good solution. I have ridden in heavy traffic many times and I prefer to have the aggressive drivers infront of me, not behind.

They can do a lot less harm there and they are easier to watch too.

Why did he speed up when she was ahead of him? Why did they both fight for the space? They are both idiots!

Bikers blame the cagers, cagers blame the bikers. Anyone who drives/rides aggressively is an a-hole.

It looks like the left lane was the continuing lane and the right lane was the lane that was ending. In NJ, the vehicle in the ongoing lane has the right of way and the merging vehicle is to fall in behind the other vehicle. (Not that drivers actually do a proper merge!) She was slightly ahead of him, but it was her lane that was ending.

What would I do? I would have blasted my Stebil horn to get the attention of the driver to prevent getting pushed or run over from the vehicle entering my lane, but I would also have started braking and backed away from a squishy situation!

BTW, I did not see any sign on the right of that road warning about the lane ending? Again, in NJ, there are always at least two signs that say, "Right Lane Ending - Merge Left"

Lets look at the options of both. She was already a bit ahead and no where to go except in the left lane. He had an unobstructed view and saw it coming. Maybe she did not. Regardless of who was ahead of who in that lane there was a truck ahead of both. I would rather not be in close traffic between a truck and a car. If she had given way she might have had to stop. Forcing her to try to merge with moving traffic from a dead stop and forcing others behind her to stop or attempt to merge suddenly. All he had to do was just let off the gas momentarily and get behind her and all the traffic continues. I see no reason at all for any of his actions. All he's done was anger a woman and involve the law for no real reason. She may decide to run the next biker out into oncoming traffic.

Agreed. Normally in this case of the lane ending its polite (though getting more rare) to let the person in with the ending lane, not crowd them out like he did.
He's a jerk with a chip on his shoulder plain and simple.

To me it isn't a matter of who had the right of way, it is a matter of what is the safest thing to do. I have given up my right away many times to avoid conflict, mainly because California drivers seem to be very aggressive at times, and road rage here is an issue. I would much rather have an agressive driver in front of me rather than behind. Like already stated, there was a truck ahead so he wouldn't be losing anything but letting the woman go ahead.
There is another thing, very possibly she didn't see him considering his position. The loud horn idea I don't thing if really wise, it normally just irritates people adding to the possibility of road rage. Horns are appropriate in certain situations, but they can also be problematic.
