hi all i need to fine tune my carbs need to know where i hook up a tacometer to see 50 rpm changes when i adjust the needle valves. i just put the carbs back on for the second time and it goes like a rocket left my buddy behind on his new harley went fron zero to 140 km like nothing no black smoke no hesitation or any thing but need to fine tune the carbs there in sync all at 9 inch thank you would u belive i made prts for the #4 carb an it works great, im putting in a carb kit in over the winter no funds to do it now but thanks to your help on this site i can ride the rest of the year cant belive the power on this 1982 gl1100got a rocket now lol. :rocks: :rocks: :thanks:
 
A dwell tachometer I think is connected to the coil. If you are using the tach for air fuel mix adjustment it may help. I've always gone by the sound and the rpm indicated on the bike tach.
 
Yes try going lean first. Whichever way gets the highest rpm. Warm the bike to operating temp and set idle to 1000 rpm. Adjust one carb to highest rpm and adjust idle back to 1000. Then adjust the next and the next the same way. It is recommended you do all carbs twice as each adjustment affects all of the carbs. Once done you should have a rock solid runner.
