Hello Everybody,
I am not sure where to post this. i would like to add a windshield to my naked GL1100---maybe using headlight attachement and handle bars. Please provide suggestions for a tall windshield and hardware I may need.
Thanks to all- you all are an awesome resource. I have included a pix.
Thanks
Simba

You can purchase a PlexiFaring III windshield.

Thanks Slab and MCGovern,
Looks likes a nice wrap around---have you used this? Does it protect the hands and wrists as well? It appears to do so, but I could not see for sure from the picture.
Slab--any particular Universal that you have used with a Classic naked Goldwing that you recommend?
thanks as always

I'm still in process of making one nekkid. So I'm looking like you are.

I used a Plexifaring II on my '81 GN400 way back in the day and it worked great! Good to know they are still in business:

Wow I never noticed before how BIG that shield is, Gerry! It's HUGE
No, it is relative....the bike is only a single cylinder 400! (Big enough windshield though! I rode that bike year round!)

Thats the type shield I want!

I think a straight up Road King style would look good.Otherwise someone put a batwing on a 1100 and it looked great.

I noticed you are missing the radiator wings.Does it run hot?

I think you were "talking" to me about radiator wings--"you talking to me ? You talking to me?" :Egyptian:
What are radiator wings---If they cost money i don't want them! It has been quite cold here in Michigan. Even on a hard crazy drive the temp gauge (I think its working fine) has never gone above half and the fan has rarely come on.

those kind of sheilds are great in use ...my 79 had one forever ....it was stock naked ...the sheild blocks the wind better than a fairing dose as it stays with the bars and your hands also ...and the bike is still naked looking .....i think thats what im going to do with the 82 standard i have when the 1200 motor tranplant is done

I had the Plexi 3 on my Magna.. really liked it .. it did give some coverage over the hands and also came down in the front so I had some knee wind deflection.. it is the largest handle bar and upper fork tube mount out there.. most are designed for the square headlights though...

I'm with ya Joe! I have debated converting mine back to 100% standard with the Plexifaring III windshield often! I just can't do without my tunes and my Vetter fairing has a great music system.

The Plexifering3 for my 1982 GL1100 is about $210 and seems like a great shield. I may just order it.
Thanks All

I want that whole bike in your picture!! (Looks like fun!)

I had a Virago that had that same fairing on the front.Kinda reminded me of a space buggy. We picked up the bike,on the way home I took it off and left it by the dumpster.Hindsight said I shouldve waited till I got home.It got cold and rainy.Raindrops at 70mph feel like needles...... :swoon:
