Had to pickup a few things at the store, parked the wing in a regular parking space. Contractor with some pipe sticking out of the back of his truck backed up and poked the pipe through the fairing on the right inside of fairing next to false tank. :Awe:

The guy was really cool, asked me how much a new fairing would cost and price to replace it. I told him he didn't want to know. First of all there are no new fairings, and labor to replace it would be as much as the bike is worth. He asked if I would settle for five hundred, I said sure would, he wrote me a check right on the spot. Went down and bought a plastic welder, and some new plastic and I'm learning to weld plastic. Molding the plastic into shape was the real fun part.

Nice he took responsibility....that's a pleasant change. Glad you weren't in the saddle when it happened, too!
What welder didja get? I have this one, and love it. It does take some gettin used to, tho. Good luck with the repair, but...you know...without PICS, it dint happen..... :smilie_happy:

Since I watched him back into my bike, or should I say back the pipe into my bike he didn't have much choice. I worked on it again last night and will take a few pictures tonight. I just need to do the finishing and prep for paint and looks like it will come out ok.

ill take my common sense over all the paper one can come up with ...I really never heard anything from people like this and there bs theories except ...you cant do that or your dumb .....sheesh the forums prove this on a daily bases it seems ...

I guess I'm doing something wrong attempting to post the picture. I put four of them in the gallery. Will try again.
I fixed the link.
There were some extra characters in your link and some were in the wrong place, don't know how that happened.

Plastic ABS rods that heat and bond to the part you are repairing. I learned real quick not to use too much or too little heat. I"m just learning so as you can see it is a work in progress. Had to head the new plastic to get it to mold into the right angle.

Don't know what kind of welding kit you got, but....ABS rods shouldn't be clear/white like that. That looks more like the urethane sticks. :headscratch: At least, in the kit I have, the clear/white sticks are. The ABS rods are black....
