Hey! This was a great thread that sort of petered out...several winters ago. Anybody got anything percolating along in a heated garage this winter? This is actually both riding season and wrenching season in Southern Arizona. Garage is like an oven in the Summer...not very conducive to working.

...but that creates a dilemma. How can you wrench and ride at the same time? I guess the answer is to buy another project - which is exactly what I did! I know I'm really dragging out the resurrection of the sidecar rig, but I want it to be right when I turn the switch. I'm currently waiting for one of these so that I won't have to pull the carb rack twice. I failed miserably in my attempt to fashion one out of bits laying around. Trying not to burn the place down:

My bucket is DEEP this winter. My plan is to rip into the '81 and fix the head gasket issue...again. I may wind up having to buy a head for that side. I gotta get it fixed so I can get rid of it....or at least make it reliably ride-able.
Plans for the '96 are just lottsa cleanin. Need to get the air horn off the '81 and put it on the '96...the factory horn is so weak I can't even hear it! :doh:

all work ( there isn't much to do ) is on hold until spring then i'll add some driving lights ( two sets ) on the wing, I'll add a second switch on the mighty ST 1300so the driving lights will be on separate switched

Still riding at the moment, but have a pretty big winter list this year;

* finish the wire harness replacement project
* replace the steering head bearings (already have the new bearings in hand)
* Finish the self cancelling turn signal project (all parts are in hand)
* clean and repaint the front wheel
* replace the AGM battery (it is still working but doesn't have the cranking amps left in it anymore
* rebuild one of the starters on hand to have a spare one ready
* build a rack for the instant tent to mount under the trailer
* potentially replacing rear brake pads

Nice list Gerry. May you have a long and productive winter!! Just kidding about the long.. :smilie_happy:

Long winter is fine by me! I ride in the cooler weather anyway. Just hard to decide when to take a bike apart for repairs or upgrades.....

When it quits, work on it. Otherwise, ride on!!

Right now, I have my front wheel/tire in a local car shop to get the tire replaced. :shock: It's too cold to crawl around on the garage floor changing a tire. It's killing me because now we have temps in the 50's!
