Does anyone recall where to find the ''how to'' article on replacing the old style fuse block with the new blade style unit? I recall that it was small, neat and fit right in the same spot as the stocker.
 
Not sure about article but there's a heavy black white that is the positive power to all fuses... then a white that comes off the other end for each circuit.. you will give up the aux tap if not modified a replacement for it... replacing is not hard.. wire one side together for positive power abd as thou remove the wires from the old mark then and wire to the opposite side abd fuse the same ammo fuse in that circuit. You can use a relay to power the fuse panel from the battery direct and triggered by the ignition switch wire (black). Dan has done this with one of his bikes..... I had asked him about it a few years argo..
 
A 6 blade fuse holder doesn't use the same screw holes but it does fit nicely in place of the old one.
Just needs drilling of the old mount plate for screws, I used self tapping screws.

Yes, brighter lights to be had by adding a relay like Joe mentioned together with a new fuse block getting rid of those archaic glass fuses that don't connect real well on the ends anymore.

Nothing wrong with glass fuses just make sure that they are the externally soldered style ( you can see the wire coming out the end). The fuse block can need replacing when the clips loose spring tension. In my opinion the blade type fuse blocks fail sooner but they do look prettier...

My glass fuse block is original, clean and working. I do like the new fuse blocks, but old reliable has been working like a champ! I suppose the main issue for the old glass fuse block is to be sure the tangs are clean and not corroded.

YA///the location of the fuse box on our 'Wings leave it open to a lot of moisture, which leads to corrosion. I know the fuses on mine usually have that nasty brown rust on the ends of them when I look. Yuck. Kept clean, and with the CORRECT fuses, they are fairly reliable, but like anything else made from 100 year old technology, improvements can be had.
I would love to swap to a blade type box....it's a lot easier to find those fuses. But...I'm just too dadgum lazy to go thru the trouble.... :lazy:
