I found a local welding shop that is willing to take a look at it! Going over this afternoon with the rolling frame and hoping he says. "Piece of cake"! :beg:

Finally...pics:

Don't look so bad here huh? Except, there should be no curves in the crossbar. It is supposed to be straight across!

Compared to the one I got from Steve83:

There is a little crack in the weld here:

Is it rusted out?
Took a hit?
Both?
Yep, rusted out AND took a hit......I sat on the bike and it decided that my girth overloaded the bike! :smilie_happy:

 Roh-roo. I better start to do something about my girth!

No wonder you didn't want a buffer in your shop. That would have flung lint and dust everywhere!

Did he stick to the price?
Yes he did!! It took him a bit to figure out how to save the left side tab for the removable frame section while cutting out the cross bar, but he did it and he did a good job!

:head bang: Cleaning up the frame for any unpainted section and where the welding work was performed for the cross tube, and I see a bit of loose paint just forward of where all of the welding work was done. Tap the loose paint to clean it up and find out it was NOT loose paint! It was rust!! :Awe:

Work my way back with a chipping hammer around the right side of the frame just forward of the driver footpeg bolt hole and the metal pops a piece of rust! Clean out the little hole and kept tapping and more rust came out. The welding work must have heated up the frame tube and dislodged rust that did not show up before this. There is about a 3/8" hole in the tube underneath the section where the frame meets the centerstand.

It wasn't there right after the welding was done. I think I can borrow my friends welding machine and tackle this one......just another setback! :cheeky:
