1977 GL1000
Hi all. I'm Glen & I've just become the owner of a 1977 GL1000. Last bike was a 1973 BMW R75/5. In the past I've ridden a RD350, XL350, KZ900 and a BSA 650 Lightning. I've just retired and I'm looking forward to keeping the Wing as original as possible and enjoying many hours of riding this iconic machine. Thanks in advance for any advice/tips to help get her road worthy!

Welcome, Glen. I also have a 77 Wing, all original, (restored as original) and I have a 74 R90S that IS all original, so I’m familiar with a couple of your bikes.

Hi Glen, and welcome to you and me too... I hope. I'm brand new here as well, but when I saw your post I could not resist replying to it because I see some scoots in your lineup there that are very familiar to me also. I had a '72 650 Lightning, a '77 GL1000, but my Kawi was a '77 KZ1000LTD, among many others, as I started riding at the ripe young age of 11, so I've had literally dozens... Awesome choices.
And so I suppose I could introduce myself here... as unconventional as this is, and certainly not to take away from your attention or steal any thunder... Which ironically is the name I gave my current steed when I bought it about 20 years ago, my 1999 Valkyrie Standard (fairly heavily customized, as is nearly everything I touch) that I call Thunderdog. And I am her (she's my fat black lady) pet and guide, Brad, although I usually go by Bud or Beardly... So HELLO To everyone else as well. I hope this isn't too out of line... maybe I should have better manners, but sometimes just don't, for some stupid reason. :D:cool:
