    Put a small piece of cardboard in the opposite set of points in the contact breaker gap , then time the other set , for static timing only , it will make your light go on off better .

    About two times for me , some idle jet and air jet cleaning can be done in place , but if there gunked inside the bowls , most likely, they will need the strip down , my plenum oring failed , and it was garaged for 10 years .

    To quickly check running , petrol in a squirter bottle , remove air cleaner squirt into plenum, should be able to run if all else is ok , help you access the motor .

    Are the little screens under you metering pins or fuel inlet control valves clean ? , I don't know if you've cleaned your tank but it can be done in place, with electrolysis ,washing soda water and a battery charger works real good .

    You can pull that pump apart , clean all parts don't mix up the valves , put a new gasket under them , check diaphragm , and just before you nip up all the diaphragm screws ,hold lever in , there is a test procedure in the manual as well , or if you don't like pushing , buy a new oem pump ...

    Where was the bike from that the exhaust pic came from , I know on mine, I have replaced a substantial amount of metal , not sure if those numbers would be there either , have you got bike wreckers , Germany has a lot of parts , buy a stuffed muffler if you can find one or a different type...

    Hi maybe if the head light doesn't show the correct numbers you could always put a new light in there they are after that E number , not sure what you mean with the sae and dot do you mean power output, do you have classic bike registration over there , cheaper ? , most of that stuff won't...

    Thanks Andrew , good to know , it's a different type of decal , like thicker , also I'll see how much gloss it's got when it's finally got all the stuff peeled off . I have to wait till it warms up getting into winter here now . Cheers

    Yes to pidjones , I cleaned and lubed my starter , fitted new brushes, I added a relay to the coils, my earth lead looked ok but , the wire get old and dirty inside the connector at the battery , I wire brushed mine and would have liked to replace it or the connectors, but was easier to use...

    Hi , the GL1000 was my dads , I helped him fix it up when he got it , it was first registered in 77 but im sure it's a 76 , it has 23000 on the clock , my dad passed in 2011 and the wing sat for 10 years in my garage until 1 year ago , I have done new timing belts and tensioner bearings , done...
