I think you're fine either way, but I do use it because I feel that it's void filling properties are worth the effort, and I've ridden very hard in the 8000 rpm plus with a hot engine and never blown.
Just as an fyi, clean those rotor threads good with break cleaner and apply red loctite. I had that bolt back off on a ride out in the desert 100 miles from home. Had to buy tools I didn’t need to tighten it. No fun.
I never could get clutches shifting down to the point I didn't have to think about it. Using the clutch I could always bang through the gears no problem.
Where do they leak, into the plenum or outside the carbs? Into the plenum suggests float valve issues, externally gasket or O ring problems.
Were these oem float valves? There are known problems like this with aftermarket float valves.
