    The pitfalls of shipping today

Yeah man, shipping anything today is insane. Electrical suppliers are now adding on shipping cost to quotes. I have just a few items weighing less than 30 lbs will be about $100.. Nuts, but I guess it’s gotta be expected with Biden’s fuel prices.

    Hibernating 1982 GL1100 gets a little attention

You could use the "sacrificial anode" method to clean it in place. He took the tank off to flush it but I bet could use a shop vacuum or similar.

standard 81` with windjammer BIN $1325 NY

Strange listing. It lists good carbs but says it’s for the ignition only? Seems like a scam.

    Twin Weber 40s on a GL1200?

I’d like to see the porting you do. I think there should be a noticeable improvement by smoothing out the flows.

    Best stator and regulator?

Why do we care that the shunt RR is sending excess to ground. Aren’t they made to do that? Maybe it gets hotter but they have heat sinks for that.

I wasn't aware the larger EFI stator would fit the non-EFI motor. Would that mean that stator would fit the earlier engines as well or is that specific to the '86?

    Randakks shipping.. Just wow!!

The shipping companies are the only ones making money these days. I had an order last week of some wire channel, was $177 shipping! Got my supplier to eat 1/2 of it at least.

isn't there an extra coolant fitting and hose on the 1200 down at the lower radiator hose fitting? Maybe that takes the place of the bypass?

Gl1100 clutch handle bolt seized and damaged neutral switch during removal.

I would ask the seller to check that the bolt isn’t seized. At least this way you have proof you asked in a dispute if it turns out frozen, but eBay reputation is important, sellers don’t want bad reviews.

    19 Year Old Tires

Besides coming apart, the rubber gets harder with age and less sticky, especially risky in leaning turns.

Upgrade/changing Laptop - PC to MacBook Air

I switched to Mac a few years ago for my main computer. Still have a PC laptop to run Quickbooks that my wife and I remote connect to. For the most part I enjoy using Mac more than PC but either gets the job done.

    Twin Weber 40s on a GL1200?

That's a nice little unit. The proximity circuits are interesting! A 30 amp fuse supplying the starter will blow right away though.
