19 Year Old Tires

I’ve been running my 82 Gl1100 all summer with the tires that came on the bike, almost 1,000 miles. The tires are Dunlop’s. A friend ask me how many years old the tires are, I hadn’t checked because they look like new tires. 4203 is the date mark. Should I keep running these or get new ones?

Get rid of those things!!! Jeeeze, they're almost 20 years old!!! You've been really lucky one of them hasn't come apart yet.

Besides coming apart, the rubber gets harder with age and less sticky, especially risky in leaning turns.

your bike will handle sooo much better with new rubber,not to mention the safety factor.
