    My Overhaul Project

I can't wait for the dragon! As it turns out, with the progressive shocks already in the back, and progressive springs going up front, I'm taking out the on-board pressure pump. It sticks out like a sore thumb, and I can just as easily stow a small air compressor that will fill my tires and the...

Here is a pic of the new speaker (with it's housing still on) and the original speaker housing: Here is a pic of removing the new speaker from the housing: To remove it from the housing, there are two screws on the back of it which are easily removed with a Phillips screwdriver. On the...

    My Overhaul Project

Quick update before I head to bed.. I received the stereo, and wow! Nice little unit! Although I didn't order the one I wanted.. d'oh! I thought I ordered the one with the built-in USB port to charge my cell phone/GPS, it isn't too big of a deal, since I found a link that explains, with pics...

I'll let you know! That is the only part I haven't ordered yet, because I'm honestly not sure what part (or parts) to get...

    My Overhaul Project

I think that is the one, yeah. He rides a newer Goldwing, I think an '06? My neighbor has a Harley he is taking down as well. Watching the video.... yeah, I'm gonna be the guy who takes it nice and slow!

    My Overhaul Project

Thanks! I just have a feeling this summer is going to be awesome for riding, and aim to get this done as soon as possible. I honestly thought it would take longer to get the fairing and false tank off... Also, I want to have the bike done, any problems rooted out and having all the new stuff...

Looks good. Sounds like they use music from a cheap 80's adult film in their promo video! :hihihi:

    My Overhaul Project

I appreciate the advice on the paint! I was actually looking at the "chrome in a can" stuff available, watching different youtube videos of people using it, and it still didn't seem right. I mean, sure, some looked shiny and whatnot, but something was missing. The only part I *really* need to...

I'll take a took at it tonight... weird. :nea:

    My Overhaul Project

So far, it is pretty fun! To be honest, I have so little experience with motorcycles.. actually, this is my first one. But, the way I see it, I have a lot of work that needs to be done, and what better way to get acquainted with my bike then tearing it down! I'm just about at a stand still until...

    My Overhaul Project

Update, with some pics... Got the fairing off, and here were all the wires that were just inside the fairing. Yikes! Sad thing is, is that the pile grew a tad when I finally removed a bunch of these: Leaving the stock wiring on the chassis, leading to this: It took me about 4 hours to...

Removing the air compressor o the false tank?

After talking to my old man, he said the front progressive springs still rely on the air compressor for maintenance.... Dangit. Really wanted that cup holder!

Removing the air compressor o the false tank?

Hi all! Has anyone removed the air compressor on the false tank? I'm going to progressives all the way around for suspension, so all those hoses and pumps are pretty much dead weight. If I remove it, I'll just fabricate a new plate, and maybe a cupholder! :smilie_happy:

Where to find conversion kits/DIY how-to?

Oh, just wait till I post the pics in my project thread of all the crap I pulled out! YIKES!

Where to find conversion kits/DIY how-to?

Thanks for the heads-up! Yeah, I'm heading the conversion route... the higher output is what won me over, as well as how easy it is to maintain and troubleshoot if something goes bad, but as for the "item that never fails" thing, from what I understand, the early-mid 80's Goldwings have had...

    My Overhaul Project

Bah, you are correct. Any ideas on whether or not I can just remove the unit on the false tank if I go progressive on the front?

Again, thanks for the warm welcome guys! I started a new thread in the 1100 forum about my overhaul project on the bike. There are going to be some *interesting* pictures I'm going to post later this afternoon of the rats nest in the fairing!

    My Overhaul Project

Hey all! I started talking about this in my "hi, I'm the new guy" thread, but decided to move the discussion here because it seems more relevant in this forum. I have an '82 Aspencade that needed *quite* a bit of work done to it, electrical system-wise, and since the stator died, I figure what...

Here is the first pic of the bike.. well, not my specific bike, but the same make/model/color: Here is the fairing, left side: And the center: I would post more pics, but those are a few hours old, and the fairing is *nearly* stripped down... I'm kind of excited to re-wire it after the...
