This is a pretty good old bike, nothing I can think of wrong with it.
Runs very strong, fastest 1100 I have ever ridden and I have ridden many. lowered rear shocks, timing belts replaced, all fluids changed, custom 2 brothers exhaust (sounds awesome), new tires, hard to find 83 model wheels, custom rear fender seat and tail light. showing 48000 miles but do not know if that is original. Have it listed on craigslist for $1900 but will come down some for a forum member.

Looks good Dave, is that one you did yourself?

No Brian I actually bought it like that but added the front fender and did what it needed to get it in shape.

Sorry slabghost, I forgot to put the year in there, it is an 81.

What are the shocks on the rear from? Nice bike.

I don't know what the shocks are for.

Makes sense. 81 was a very spry bike in stock form.
Even more so with the 1" smaller rear wheel.

Had another one with the same set up that wasn't as snappy, in fact the one in my profile picture, 82 with 80 engine. This one feels like it almost lifts the front wheel in 5th gear. It may be the ergonomics of it and the lower rear end.

I measured the circumference of the 140/90 16 rear tire on this bike and the 130/90 17 on another 81. The 130/90 17 is 82.5", the 140/90 16 is 81.5", a difference of 2%. Don't think that would effect the gearing enough to matter.

There is certainly a very noticeable difference.
I have actually experienced both.
