1978 GL1000 Starter Solenoid ?

Starting to hear that familiar grinding noise from the solenoid when I hit the starter on my 78 GL1000.

My ? is, Is their an automotive sonenoid compatible to what works in the GL1000. If so does anyone have a part number?

I have a friend that has a gl1100 and the bike shop told him that he needed a new starter
well they also told him that the battery was good I found out that the battery was wasted
and the starter was good found the starter sol. bad found one at napa yes napa had one
did not have to change anything was an aftermarket one for a goldwing don't remember the part #
but you could try them if you have one by you

Is it the solenoid or is it the starter clutch?
Solenoid usually doesn't make noise.
