24" of snow is melting pretty quick around here. Time to start assembling all of the parts to start this project fair and square. I have all of the mechanical and electrical parts needed to get started EXCEPT, I just thought about the steering head bearings. Watching Joel's thread on the Turd reminded me that I did have a high speed wobble a few years back and found my steering head a 1/4 turn loose.

Those bearings were in pretty good shape back in 2007 when I first put the bike together. They were from the original '82 which only had 23K miles on the frame. They cleaned up nicely, but now wondering if this might just be the right to just replace them since the triple tree will be out.

The other add on I am going to be doing since I am cleaning up and re-installing the original '82 wire harness is to add a 4-way emergency flasher system based on Mike Nixon's paper.

You should be able to patch it back together but why bother? Self canceling signals on my 84 are just plain annoying.

+1. I don't like mine either. They worked perfect on my Harley tho. Nice control set up on that bike I must say...

On my 84 they always cancel early and I have to start em again to actually make the turn. I mean, it's not like I start signaling a mike before the turn or anything, they just shut off real quick. I end up holding the damn thing in place. But I know thing of this sorcery...

Mine needed the flasher before, :headscratch: but other than that one time, on a total of seven, the 1100's, 1200's as well as on the 1500, is a pretty good record. :good:
