One of the niceties of riding the '85 LTD is that I was under the impression it had a dry weight of approximately 750 lbs as advertised on lots of review/spec sites. Decided to take the bike over the scales and see for myself what the actual weight is wet. The first set of scales weighed in at 420 Kg (924 lbs - full tank of gas). After digesting this number, I took the bike to a second set of scales, the local recycling place knowing that since you get charged by weight for bringing in recycle or garbage, the scales have to be accurate. Had the bike weighed a second time at 410 Kg (902 lbs - half tank of gas). I know the 1800 is a lot heavier so I will now have to, for my peace of mind, take the 1800 over the scales as well. The '85 still "feels" lighter, maneuvers a lot easier than the 1800, and I'm still quite pleased with its performance.

Looks like you can't believe everything you read and see.

Cheers

Hmmm, thats a lot more than Honda says even for GL 1800, in 2006 they stated 845 lbs dry for it.

The GL 1500 is often considered the heaviest of all GL models produced. Supposedly the GL 1800 dropped substantial weight in 2001 with an all new aluminum frame among other weight trimming measures.

I think the 1100 is somewhere between 600-700 lbs dry

The naked GL 1000 is just under 600 lbs dry.

My 1200 standard weighs 700lbs, 1200 interstate 800lbs, 1500's 900lbs, according to the truck scales at my job, back when i still was working.

I took the 1800 out today for a ride and hit the scales. To my surprise with a 1/3 full fuel tank, it came in at 420 Kg (924 lbs) the same as the '85 LTD. Cheers
