today the sun was out and stuff so after messing with the 83 for awhile i decided i was going to tweak the 82 and go for a ride....i indext the plugs along with pointing the tips right at the electrodes...so with plugs facing the intake valves and pointed iwent for a ride ...it was hard getting to the hiway with all the pea gravel spread for ice ...anyway took off and as before it buried that 82 speedo instantly it seemed ....so then i slowed down cruised with it and it cruises fine anywhere from 60mph on the roll on power is strong ...to you better pay attension and hang on and pic your path espescaly above 70mph it just rockets....

so after cuising for awhile i turned around to head home ...waited for some traffic to go by and clear and took off kinda hard then decided pour it on ...clutch already out and movig out ....the bike broke loose wirh just roll on power and instantly i had to get out of it there was no way i was going to live through it ...i mean big all dressed wing shooting out like an out of control crouch rocket drag bike....im pretty sure it could do the same thing in second i dont go there like that to see i work to hard to trash my work in abuse....

i must say this is the fastest wing ive ever rode ....i havnt rode a bunch but some and i know how the mongruel did against others....the mongruel is way out classed here and the mongruel ran strong.....i must admit that the average wing you come accross are not running up to par...but ive out excelerated 1800s before with the mongruel but they have there spot to to get you back ...its always fun

anyway this is one bad wing every time i ride it ...it just blows me away :rocks: :rocks:

Sounds great Joe!

I'd love to have the chance to put yours up against an 81 with stock gears and 16 inch rear wheel.
When I first put this '81 in I kid you not the power would pull the front wheel off the ground in second gear, and that's full dress!

There's a big disadvantage though because the gears are way too close so there's a lot of shifting.

Hey Joe....since we have been reading about so many swaps and cams and heads and such,....could you list the mods that you have done to this '82 here? I have lost track as to what was done to which bike and so on.

Hey Joe is it that big of a difference? :heat: :heat: :heat: .Merry christmas to you and your loved ones :good:

dan the 82 is a well geared bike ...the first two gears are the same as 80-81 and it comes stock with 16" wheel ...so as stock gose the 82 is the lowest geared wing in the firt two gears .....80-81 has to have 16" wheel to be as low....then third forth and fifth progressively get taller .....im at the opinion that an 82 would out drag an 80-81 from gear runout and extra shift ....ive got one and im going to put ine together sometime soon ....ive got the potental to have all gearing of 1100s and i will....seems like the 80-81 1100s will shine on roll on power in fifth gear second to none on wings .....someday soon

sure gerry and ~O~ ....as ive said before the 82 was a well running 1100 with no flaws ...gerry you know that you seen it ....so i used it as a testing program for the 1000 cams i was wanting to put in the 1200 project as i could put them in without taking the heads off and feel the difference in the two cams ....well the test was flawless in outcome ....there was a huge increase in power and its power band covered a bigger rpm zone ....the mongruel was faster than the stock 1100 but not now not even close....so the only change i did was a cam change to 75-77 cams install into 1100 heads ....still using the 1100 ignition....as i cant find one reason to justify changing anything else...im sure theres more power to get with 1000 carbs ...but i cant see it to do anything ...it is realy smooth down low in the rpm zone and maybe a little less power there ....but overall it seems to have it all ....thats why i like the name angry dresser....the roll on power in forth gear is rip roaring fast in sound and speed even though its got quiet stock exhast and airbox it not quiet during roll on power....the rant guy represents my angry dresser...

yes carl it is   merry christmas to you

yea ive never rode a wing where ithought that the cam or attitude of the mortor seemed so right ....i think the extra 100ccs of motor that the 1100 brings to the table broadens the effective zone of the 1000 cams to almost the complete rpm zone ...you just might have to reinforce the leaner  kidding aside im so impressed ....my only resorvation is i havnt check the clearence yet as in valve to piston ...but im getting some clay soon to check this with on a 1100 i have and the 1200 ...sometimes just getting some play dough takes days ....im jush about ready to use flour dough it ought to work

Wow!

Maybe I should start looking for 1000 cams on eBay.

The 75-77 cams in an 1100 come alive around 4500 rpm but seem to produce less torque in the lower rpms than 1100 cams.
At least that's been my experience so far.

I'm trying out 1200 cams which I expect to have an increase in the lower rpm bands over the 1100.

Success or failure, it could go either way at this point.

well i did the dough test and all the stuck to the head instead of the piston ...but it was a nice formed cookie id say and showed no sign of being to close the exhast valve seemed the closest but it seemed good to me ihad nothing to meseasure it with ....but im not worried anymore about it on the 1100 or 1200 .....
