My 83 needs new shock seals. Oil is all over the lower tubes and ran down on the final drive.
Guess I blew a seal.
Do we have a good source for them, preferably a kit with all the seals to rebuild them complete?

Oldwrench bought the parts from Honda two years ago. Maybe Joel can remember where he got his parts.

I haven't read of any issues with your shocks so I'm guessing the rebuilds are holding up well.

# 11 is guide bushing, but I don't understand why there showing a quantity of 2 on the seal, isn't there just one in there ? That's all I see except for o-rings and mounting bushings. Oh I see, they showing quantity for building both shocks. My bad.

The guide bushings can be worn, if the shocks have a LOT of miles on them, and/or have been run with no oil, or with a bad/torn lower accordion/cover. That would allow dirt and stuff to get up in there.
I did not replace the bushings on mine. The outer shock surfaces did have some minor scratching, but not enough for me to worry about, and the guide bushings in mine had a teflon coating, which makes them a little more tolerant of dirt and scratches. I doubt your's will need them either.
There are only the two seals...one in each shock. There are two o-rings on the top hat/air fitting, if you wanna replace them. I dint, and mine have not leaked air OR oil since I did them way back when.

I think I'll disassemble them both before ordering any parts.
This way I can see if the piston is gouged or any other problems. I have a spare 83 set I could use to make 1 good pair if needed, plus new seals of course.

Thanks guys.

internal rubber end bumpers/bushings can be totally shot, there are aftermarket substitutes,

read a thread where what was left of that rubber was mostly a goouuee mush,

prob how someone else ended up with a locked up shock after hitting a big bump,

1200 shocks bolt right in, are ~ 1" longer and don't require air assist to run, for light loads at least, they also use the progressive seal
