Ok I replaced the brake lines (all), they work.
This is diagram I'm going to reference
image.php

The left front flex brake line (from caliper) ends at a metal line that is used to crossover the forks to the other flex line to the M/C.
Where the flex ends is a 'stay' (item 13). When preparing to remove line I had to remove the 'wind deflector' (item 11). Needless to say removing was a pain because the 2 bolts that attach it to the lower triple tree are next to impossible to see and/or get to. Once I had that removed I noticed the stay was loose also, I presumed it must have attached with the left hand wind deflector bolt. Now I'm trying to put the stay back where I thought it came from & can't get any kind of orientation of the stay that will line up with that hole. I thought maybe it had been loose in there & at one time was bolted to the wind deflector, but again I can't find an orientation that will line up with holes in the deflector. When I replaced the brake line I had to remove stay & put it back on the line, I put it back the way I found it. I'm guessing that maybe it's on wrong or I just haven't found the magic location. None of the manuals have enough detail to help. Anybody have a picture or description of how the stay is oriented & where it attaches?
Your help will be appreciated :beg:

I was hoping that would help also, but the 84 has a different setup, evidently (Thank you Mother Honda, wouldn't want to build them alike or anything). The metal line bends before the connection point to make the line orientation more horizontal. The 86 has a more vertical orientation. Yours appears like one picture I saw in a manual. The stay piece is exactly like that but to get it to attach like that I'd have to bend the metal line (rather not try, think kink). Dadster I appreciate the effort.
Thanks

Dadster...Thank you, Thank you :thank_you:

Your picture got me to investigate further, like I said my metal line was in a vertical orientation. After looking at your picture & looking at what I had it was time to go to work. That info rattled around in my head all day. I got home & looked up the p/n for both our bikes & it was the same, hence it had to go that way. I started looking for why mine wouldn't turn that way & found it, the other end of the line had hooked on the other fork & wires and wouldn't move. Once the other end was free I could put the line in position :yahoo: I would bet anything none of this would have happened if I'd taken the fairing off, but thought that would be more work than needed  live & learn. A side note to Mother Honda, you didn't mess me up this time

Again many thanks
